Apple files counter suit against Nokia

Back in October we reported that Nokia was filing suite against Apple, Inc. for infringing on, “patents for GSM, UMTS and wireless LAN (WLAN) standards.” Today Apple has fired back with a counter suit and a little shot across the bow from Apple’s General Council Bruce Sewell, “other companies must compete with us by inventing their own technologies, not just by stealing ours.” We’ll stay on top of this one as it develops.

WIND Mobile in Canada given a green light?

We’ve just started to hear reports that WIND Mobile, Canada’s Robin Hood, has been allowed to start operating “without delay.” This is a huge win for the Globalive team as you’ll remember Canada’s CRTC committee put the brakes on their act a little while back. We’ll be updating this as we get more information. Now, who’s excited for some damn good competition in Canada’s wireless industry?

AT&T’s plans to improve network reliability and what that means for you

AT&T’s Ralph de la Vega announced yesterday that the carrier would start taking steps to improve its network and acknowledged that service in some areas is sub-par (most of you would agree that that’s an understatement). Ok so we said before about Freeview HD, when it was coming etc. Now Some masts are pumping out the signal, why aren’t there any set top boxes out there to pick this free HD signal up. Well I can’t personally explain that but what I can say is that the first set top boxes are outed and will be released next year.

Humax HD-FOX T2 should be out in Q1  next year. Firstly it’ll tune its self with its auto-tune ..read more

AT&T’s New iPhone App Lets You Complain About AT&T

iPhone owners may love Apple’s sexy mobile device, but they absolutely can’t stand AT&T. It ranks dead last in customer satisfaction for dropped calls and spotty 3G service, a sore spot that Verizon has been poking at with new ads.

Now the U.S.’s second largest wireless provider is looking to turn things around, hopefully before it loses iPhone exclusivity rights. Its newest strategy is especially unique though, because it comes in the form of an iPhone app called Mark ..read more

Share Wireless Access from a Windows 7 Netbook [NetBooks]

Windows 7 Starter Edition, the version loaded onto netbooks, isn’t supposed to offer “advanced” features like ad-hoc network sharing. In this one case, however, finding this feature is as simple as typing the right phrase into the Start Menu search.

Rafael Rivera’s Within Windows blog points out that while the dialog that normally starts the ad-hoc networking process in Windows 7 is disabled in Starter Edition, simply searching for adhoc allows you to start it up. That means being able to ..read more
